MISSION STATEMENT
The San Antonio League of Self- Advocates fights to stop unfair treatment and advocates for more and better services and supports for people with disabilities to be included in their communities.
Self-Advocates are men and women with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) who speak up for their human and civil rights.
IN LOVING MEMORY OF DAVID LAUFER (1940-2012)
David Laufer, brother of Judith Laufer, never met a person he wasn't curious about. Where you live? You go school? You have kids? You for Spurs?
He was a driving force behind SALSA, had scores of friends, and never forgot a birthday. He was a great friend to have.
IN LOVING MEMORY OF RICHARD POLHEMUS (1956-2018)
Richard Polhemus, was the irritating and beloved brother of Cathy Young and Barbara Boehm, and the devoted and aggravating husband of Gabby Rodriguez Polhemus.
He was always proud of SALSA and was Cathy's inspiration for co-founding a group of self-advocates. He loved to call family members and keep them in the loop about everyone else's doings.
